The written word is powerful.
The intent of this site is simple; a place for me to write. Poems, stories, thoughts... sometimes a nascent idea - the whispers of lunacy - or nothing at all.
This is a thing I do for myself. After many years of not actively writing I am starting again.
Since the late 1970s, I have had a fascination with the written word. A naturally shy, quiet, curious and inquisitive young boy became a voracious reader of all genres - I devoured every book in sight.
The reading begat ideas and the ideas spawned questions. I began to question the world I lived in - the status quo.
My mother's Catholic faith was central to my perception of who I was and, as such, it was one of the first things I questioned.
I debated scripture with a Catholic Deacon and invited Jehovah Witnesses to sit with me on Saturday mornings to discuss the bible. Jewish temples and Mosques were visited in an effort to better understand my own Catholic upbringing.
At the time, my conclusions on religion were my own and, at a young age, I had defined who I really was to myself.
I applied the same curious intensity to my questions on a myriad of different topics; Art, History, Love, Military, Politics... basically everything.
A curious child changed his ingrained perceptions of the world he lived in and sense of identity based on written words. It was then that I dared to write.
Words are powerful.
