Short Stories...

I've always loved reading. Especially short stories and novellas. Snippets of a fantasy world where one can find escapism or, more importantly, bravely confront some heady stuff.

I fell in love with the works of Harlan Ellison and Stephen King as a young man. Their short fiction was, to me, everything.

As the title indicates, this section is dedicated to my short stories. Some of them will be finished and others will be works in progress - you will be able to join me as I attempt to finish a story.

My writing style is... different.

Usually, I start a story based on an idea. Nothing more, just an idea. There is no thought as to characters or anything other than an idea. Ideas can come from a song, a memory, a story I heard or read or the news. Usually, the idea marinates in my head for a bit before it becomes a thing I must exorcise by writing it out.  When I begin writing there is no idea on how a story will end - the story just unfolds itself.

Some stories tell themselves easily - written in a couple of hours while others take months.

I will attempt to work on "open" stories when I can. I am also open to thoughts and ideas.

Hopefully, you will enjoy these.
